UW Board of Regents to request $21 million in additional spending
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The University of Wisconsin System regents have approved a budget proposal that will ask the state for an additional $21 million in funding.
The Board of Regents approved the proposal Thursday in Madison. A Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report says the approved request will now go to the Department of Administration.
The $21 million would be used in part to fund the UW System's new flexible-degree initiative, a program that would grant college credit for real-world life experience.
Regent John Drew cast the lone dissenting vote. He says he was concerned the new budget request didn't address a pay plan for faculty and staff.
The regents also approved a resolution for roughly $672 million in building projects at campuses across the state, including Madison, La Crosse and Stevens Point.
