WAUKESHA- Tommy Thompson supporters are hoping the County Springs Inn will be victory center for the former governor Tuesday night.

Thompson told TODAY'S TMJ4 he's confident the voters will pick him as the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate race.

As volunteers hammer through their phone lists, TODAY'S TMJ4's Cody Holyoke says Tommy Thompson is working to keep them energized.

The candidate spent the day around Madison, casting his ballot and rallying Republican support. An attempt the former governor believes is working.

"What we're hearing from the fields is that there are more people voting than were anticipated, so we're expecting a bigger voter turnout, so that's good," said Thompson.

Talking last minute strategy with staffers, Thompson hopes this push for the polls will put him over the top, but he's not calling it a win just yet.

"I think this election is going to go down to the wire.  Polls say it's very close, and I think anybody can win," said Thompson.

Thompson spent the rest of the day around Madison.

Staffers told TODAY'S TMJ4 that they expect Thompson as soon as polls close Tuesday night.
