Wisconsin Republicans buzzing about Ryan
WAUKESHA - People packed the Waukesha Expo Center grounds to be part of Paul Ryan's homecoming.
Back home among Wisconsinites, Congressman Ryan struck a chord with supporters, happy to see him on the national stage.
"When his name was first mentioned months ago, I said 'That's the only guy he can choose.,'" said one voter.
Thousands of people crammed into the space around the stage, with crowds overflowing.
"We had to park our car far away just to be able to get in and this is what is so exciting," Marya Kelly says.
Opponents did make their presence known. Deputies removed two men for yelling during Governor Romney's speech.
"Young man, this group here is respectful of other people's rights to be heard," Romney told the men.
For much of this hometown crowd, hometown values reign supreme.
"I've liked Paul Ryan for a long time, so this really energizes me," Joanna Krum says.
The Romney camp hopes choosing Ryan will energize the rest of the party. With Wisconsin typically a blue state during Presidential elections, supporters are hopeful the VP pick will turn Wisconsin red this time around.
"We're at a critical point within our state and within our country," Romney-Ryan supporter Katie Cuhn says.
"So I definitely think the Romney-Ryan ticket will prevail in Wisconsin."
