Romney, Ryan hit campaign trail after Waukesha rally
WAUKESHA - Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his running mate who calls Wisconsin home, Paul Ryan, were to split their campaining efforts Monday after an emotional night in Waukesha.
The newly-minted VP candidate could be seen wiping tears from his face.
"My veins run with cheese, bratwurst and a little Spotted Cow, Leine's and some Miller," Ryan told the crowd.
Not just anonymous faces in the estimated crowd of more than 8,000 people. Ryan's family, friends and those who helped build his political career were there. He was also flanked on stage by Senator Ron Johnson, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus and Governor Scott Walker.
"We will look back at this moment in 2013 as the day our generation fixed it, so the America idea was turned back on and our children had a brighter future," Ryan said.
Southeast Wisconsin's Congressman will spent the months ahead tirelessly trying to put Mitt Romney in the White House.
"I guess you think I made the right decision, the right choice," Romney told supporters.
Ryan's wife Janna, three children Liz, Charlie and Sam were also on stage.
"We're counting on Wisconsin," Romney said. "Let's get it done you guys!"
Wisconsin has been a hard state for Republicans to crack. No presidential nominee has won its electoral votes since 1984, although some have come excruciatingly close.
Romney was set to campaign in Florida, with Ryan in Iowa.
