Community meeting on temple shooting helped healing process, says son of victim

OAK CREEK- A community meeting was held for people to ask questions and get information about the Sikh temple shooting at the Oak Creek High School gym.
Amardeep Kaleka lost his father, and temple president Satwant Singh Kaleka, in Sunday's massacre. Thursday night, he took part in a community gathering designed to let people talk about what's happened, and what can still be done.
"Right now our goal is mourning, community building, and getting a cultural understanding back and forth," said Kaleka.
That included an appearance by Reverend Jesse Jackson. "While we focus on the uniqueness of the massacre, it is all too common," said Jackson.
Also on hand, Oak Creek's mayor, police chief, and representatives from the FBI and the White House. And while those on stage made some remarks, it was really a chance for those in the audience to make a statement, ask a question, or ask for help.
Jatinder Mangat told TODAY'S TMJ4, "It's been a great response from everybody."
"I think this meeting was the first step to a lot of healing and the first step to that healing is discussion," said Kaleka.
