West Allis man charged with sexual assault; may be connected to other cases
MILWAUKEE - A 23-year-old man from West Allis has been charged for an alleged sexual assault that happened at a bus stop in Bay View in July.
The assault happened on July 27 at about 5:36 p.m. on the 400 block of East Lincoln Avenue at a bus shelter. According to the criminal complaint, Kodrich tried taking off the victim's clothing at the shelter, but she resisted and pushed Kodrich away. The woman then ran from the bus shelter to a waiting bus and got on the bus.
Police are investigating to see if Anthony Kodrich is connected to a series of other sexual assaults in Milwaukee, Shorewood and South Milwaukee.
The victim discovered news reports about other assaults in Bay View and South Milwaukee, then told police about her incident.
She told authorities she had never seen Kodrich before and was "overwhelmed" about the incident.
Police say that two officers went back to the scene of that assault, boarded buses when they approached, and checked for the suspect.
They found Kodrich and arrested him, and police say that the victim identified him.
Kodrich faces a maximum of 40 years in prison if he's convicted on that sexual assault charge.
