Gay marriage groups try to counter Chick-fil-A by supporting Starbucks Tuesday
MILWAUKEE - Supporters of gay marriage are asking people to swarm a nationwide coffee shop chain which supports their cause.
Advocates hope to counter the support Chick-fil-A received last week.
Supporters of traditional marriage came in droves to the chicken restaurant chain, including its location in Racine.
Chick-fil-A's chief executive, Dan Cathy, publicly stated the company's belief that marriage should solely be between a man and a woman.
The group "Equally Wed" is among those asking for people to head to Starbucks, a company which has publicly supported gay marriage in the past, on a day same-sex marriage supporters have marked as National Marriage Equality Day.
