Man struck, killed by minivan in West Allis
WEST ALLIS- A 47-year-old man is dead after a minivan ran him over near 70th and Greenfield Tuesday.
Investigators believe the minivan hit a man as he tried to cross the street, then dragged him a block before stopping.
Douglas Cocroft works nearby and heard the accident.
"I stepped outside when I heard this screeching sound, I turned around and saw the cops coming," said Cocroft.
One witness told TODAY'S TMJ4 the van hit the man just as it made a right turn onto 70th street.
The man landed on the windshield and somehow wound up underneath the van.
The crash is still under investigation. Police say the driver stayed on scene and is cooperating. Police have not released the man's name -- only saying he's from West Allis.
There's no indication at this time if something distracted the driver.
