ELKHORN - Twenty-seven-year-old Melody Butt will spend the next year behind bars in her child neglect case, according to Walworth County Today.
Butt pleaded guilty to felony child neglect resulting in death and misdemeanor child neglect. She faces a maximum 25 years in prison and one year in jail.
A criminal complaint says Butt began filling the bathtub, put one of the twins in the water, then went to her bedroom and fell asleep Sept. 22.
She awoke when her roommate arrived home and discovered the twins in the tub. The boy and girl twins were pronounced dead at a local hospital.
