Hovde says tech company never got stimulus money
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The U.S. Senate campaign for Eric Hovde is taking exception to a published report that says a tech company backed by the Wisconsin Republican received $2.3 million in stimulus funds.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported last week that a government website that tracks stimulus spending, recovery.gov, showed that ePlus received multiple stimulus grants. Hovde is a director for the computer-security firm.
Hovde's campaign says the website is wrong. Hovde says the company's clients may have received stimulus funds, but that ePlus never applied for nor received stimulus dollars.
Edward Pound is with the federal Recovery Accountability and Transparency Board. He told The Associated Press on Monday he would look into the matter.
A message left with ePlus was not immediately returned.
