Janesville woman killed in Beloit crash after police chase

BELOIT - Beloit Police said Monday that a woman died in a crash there after crashing following a police chase.

According to a statement, Heather Pfeiffer, 27, was killed in the crash which happened at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning.  She was from Janesville.

Police say that an officer pulled her over when she committed a traffic violation.  While the officer was checking her information on a computer, Pfeiffer reportedly pulled away and fled.

The officer then chased her before stopping the pursuit.

Investigators say that after the police chase, she was going faster than 70 miles per hour when she tried to turn right from Prairie Avenue onto Carlyle Avenue.

She lost control of her van.  It reportedly rolled over three times before striking a tree.

According to police, Pfeiffer was ejected from the vehicle.
