BROWN DEER - A triathlete from Waukesha is one of 11 athletes with cheesehead connections marching in today's Olympic opening ceremonies in London.

"She is a remarkable woman," said Dave Anderson, the swimming coach for Gwen Jorgensen, ranked as one of the world's top 20 women triathletes.

"It's an exciting time."

He's heading over to join Jorgensen as she preps for the chase for Olympic Gold.

"Gwen left the other day to be over there for the opening ceremonies.  After the ceremonies, she'll be going to a training camp.  I can't wait to get over there," explained Anderson, who joined TODAY'S TMJ4's Live at Daybreak from the Olympic pool at the YMCA's Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer.

Her sport involves the combination of open-water swimming, bike riding and running.

Jorgensen trained for years in the Milwaukee area to become an Olympian.

"She started out at Waukesha Express Swim Team as an age group swimmer and trained many times as a kid," said Anderson.

"Boy, that woman can really work hard, day in and day out."

She'll be competing on Saturday, August 4th at 3:00 a.m. CT, in an event you can watch on the NBC Sports Network.
