Missing Sheboygan County teen found dead of self-inflicted gunshot wound
TOWN OF RHINE- A 16-year-old from the Town of Rhine that went missing Wednesday afternoon has been found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to a news release, Craig D. Hiebing left his home on Little Elkhart Lake Road Wednesday afternoon and couldn't be located. Investigators determined that a shotgun went missing from the home and he left a note for his family.
The Sheboygan County Sheriff's office then deployed 16 sheriff's deputies Wednesday evening to search for the missing teen in the wooded area on the Hiebing's property.
Around 9 p.m. Thursday, authorities said that a searcher found the teen's body in a wooded area a distance away from his home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
It is not clear when his body was found.
