Charity baseball game, auction held for Maggie Litwicki's family in Greenfield
GREENFIELD- People in Greenfield are working to help three children whose mother was murdered.
Friends and family of Maggie Litwicki laid her to rest earlier Wednesday, but during Wednesday afternoon, the little league where one of her sons plays for is stepping up in a big way.
Greenfield police found Litwicki stabbed to death inside her townhouse earlier this month.
Christopher Gish is charged with her murder. Gish is the father of Litwicki's two sons Kaleb and Kayden. They were asleep inside during the murder.
Despite the emotional toll on Maggie's mother, her three children and the entire family wanted to be in court.
"My daughter loved him and thought he could change, but he couldn't. She tried. She really tried for her boys," said Maggie's mother Debra Wensierski.
Kaleb and Kayden essentially lost both parents due to domestic violence.
"Just being part of the team means being part of a family and this is a member of our family going through a hard time," said Jeff Brunner, Greenfield Little League's vice president.
Eight-year-old Kaleb plays in the Greenfield Little League. Jeff Brunner says the league is raising money through a charity game and auction.
"We as a league will be here for him and his siblings," said Brunner.
TODAY'S TMJ4's Jermont Terry was told Maggie and Chris would often come to cheer on their son from these bleachers. Members of the community are stepping up to help the kids.
"It's extremely heartwrenching and we need to make sure they have a future where they don't feel everything is taken away from them," said Brunner.

Local businesses have items to auction off and all the proceeds from the concession will go towards the family.
