GREEN BAY - Tens of thousands of Green Bay Packers owners viewed a sports event that's only held in one American city.

The Packers' shareholders' meeting happened Tuesday at the team's home stadium, and about 12,500 fans attended in person.

Another 20,000 watched the proceedings online.

Those in person gave General Manager Ted Thompson a standing ovation, while team President Mark Murphy used Donald Driver's "Dancing with the Stars" trophy to fire up the crowd.

The meeting lasted 90 minutes.  Officials addressed the team's 15-1 regular season, the playoff failure and the successful revenue performance for 2011.

They also mentioned the updates to Lambeau Field including the new video boards for 2012 and seating to be completed in 2013.

"I thought it was a really good meeting.  You could feel the excitement and energy from the shareholders.  I would guess a pretty high percentage of people there were new shareholders, so I think going through it for the first time was exciting to them," said Murphy.

"We talked about some of the performance results in terms of our finances...I think it's good for shareholders to hear that."

The Packers are the lone non-profit organization among all American major professional sports teams.
