MADISON- Democratic members of the Legislature's budget committee want the head of Wisconsin's top economic development entity to testify about recent problems at the semi-private agency.

The lawmakers sent the letter Monday to Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation head Paul Jadin expressing "serious concerns" regarding how WEDC is operating and its job creation efforts.

The letter refers to tax incentives offered then rescinded to information systems company Skyward and what Democrats called a lack of specificity and details about WEDC's plans to spend $25 million in economic development credits.

Republican committee co-chairman Rep. Robin Vos says he hasn't seen the letter but he thinks WEDC is doing a "wonderful job."
