Festa Italiana kicks off 35th annual festival Thursday
MILWAUKEE - America's largest Italian festival kicks off tonight along Milwaukee's lakefront.
Festa Italiana begins its four-day run at 5:00 p.m. Thursday night at the Henry Maier Festival Park.
The 35th edition of Milwaukee's oldest ethnic festival on the Summerfest grounds will feature:
- Gondola rides in the lagoon
- Nightly fireworks
- Country star Phil Vassar
- Swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
- Classic rockers Ides of March
- Milwaukee's own Sam Llanas, formerly of the BoDeans
Sunday brings the annual Festa Mass at the Marcus Amphitheater, with Fr. John Belmonte, S.J. as the main celebrant.
And, of course, there's all that Italian food.
