Wisconsin Democrats ask law firm for redistricting file
MADISON- State Senate Majority Leader Mark Miller has again asked a law firm that helped Republicans draw new legislative district lines to hand over its complete file on the service.
Republican leaders worked in secret with the Michael Best & Friedrich firm to create the new boundaries. Miller, a Monona Democrat, asked the firm for the file in March.
He has since become majority leader after Democrats seized control of the chamber in last month's recall elections. He sent the firm a letter on Wednesday renewing his request.
Senate Chief Clerk Jeff Renk says the firm has charged the Senate $231,374 for redistricting. Assembly Chief Clerk Pat Fuller says that chamber has paid the firm $200,000.
A message left at the law firm's Madison offices Wednesday wasn't immediately returned.
