BROOKFIELD- A 64-year-old man from Brookfield was charged Tuesday following a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a 25-year-old woman over the weekend.

The Waukesha County District Attorney's office charged Thomas J. Rhoda with: hit-and-run involving great bodily harm, which is a felony.

Brookfield police said Monday that the suspect turned himself in following the crash, which happened around 7:40 p.m. Sunday in the roundabout at the corner of North Barker Road and West North Avenue.

The woman had pelvis and head injuries after the hit-and-run crash.

The latest crime highlights a handful of crashes this summer.

Not far away, in Waukesha, a woman barely escaped with her life last month when a driver killed her service dog.

A week later, an elderly man survived a similar brush with death in Sussex; his son responded to the call.

Just before that, five-year-old Robert Torres was struck by two cars and left in the street.  He is recovering.
