MILWAUKEE - We Energies crews were spending Wednesday morning continuing to return power to customers who had lost it due to high wind gusts.

At one point Tuesday evening, around 13,000 We Energies customers were without power due to high wind gusts up to 45 mph and some down power lines, said We Energies spokesman Brian Manthey to Newsradio 620 WTMJ.

As of 6:40 a.m., about 125 customers still were without power.

According to Manthey, the outages "hit quickly" between 5:30-6 p.m. Tuesday, mostly along Milwaukee's lakeshore.

The latest outage data had 5,000 customers without power.

During the worst part of the outages, around 3,000 customers in the City of Milwaukee and 2,600 in Whitefish Bay reported power loss.

Manthey urges anyone that sees down power lines or has a power outage to call We Energies at 800-662-4797.

"Don't just assume that somebody else has called in your neighborhood," said Manthey.

He recommends to stay at least 25 feet away from down power or phone lines.

Manthey said they have crews out responding to these outages and they will try to restore power as soon as possible.
