BROOKFIELD - Brookfield police said Monday that a 64-year-old man has gone into custody after turning himself in following a hit-and-run crash which seriously injured a 25-year-old woman.

The woman has pelvis and head injuries after the hit-and-run crash.

The suspect turned himself in and has been brought to the Waukesha County jail.

The crash happened at about 7:40 p.m. Sunday in the roundabout at the corner of North Barker Road and West North Avenue.

The latest crime highlights a handful of crashes this summer.

Not far away, in Waukesha, a woman barely escaped with her life last month when a driver killed her service dog.

A week later, an elderly man survived a similar brush with death in Sussex; his son responded to the call.

Just before that, five-year-old Robert Torres was struck by two cars and left in the street.  He is recovering.
