BROOKFIELD- An 8-year-old girl who was found unconscious in a southeast Wisconsin pool last week has died, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner confirmed Thursday afternoon.
Police say the girl was found unresponsive in water about four feet deep on July 3 at the Wirth Aquatic Center in Brookfield.
Lifeguards and paramedics performed CPR. She was taken to Children's Hospital, where she was in critical condition and then pronounced dead on Wednesday.
The girl, from New Berlin, came to the pool with the New Berlin Parks and Recreation Department that afternoon.
That parks and recreation department told TODAY'S TMJ4 they are evaluating their swimming field trips after the girl was found unresponsive.
