TOWN OF VERNON- A dump truck, an SUV and a car were in an accident on Highway 164 in the Town of Vernon in Waukesha County around 3:42 p.m. Wednesday.

A preliminary investigation suggests that a 39-year-old man from Waukesha was driving the dump truck and struck a 21-year-old woman's vehicle as she was turning east onto Guthrie Drive from Big Bend Drive.  Then authorities say the driver of the dump truck, who was heading north, then entered the southbound lanes of traffic and crashed into another vehicle just north of Guthrie Drive.

That vehicle was driven by a 37-year-old woman from Salem.  She had her 11-year-old daughter in the vehicle at the time of the crash. They sustained minor injures and weren't transported to the hospital.

Flight for Life transported the 21-year-old woman to Froedtert Hospital after she was ejected from her vehicle and suffered serious head, facial and leg injuries.

The driver of the dump truck suffered minor injuries and wasn't transported to the hospital.

This accident remains under investigation by the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department. Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting with the investigation.

Meanwhile, an accident closed part of State Highway 44 west of Oshkosh in Winnebago County Wednesday afternoon.

Two SUV's were involved in that crash.  Flight for Life was also called to that crash.
