Flags for veterans' graves stolen from Hustisford cemetery
HUSTISFORD - Dodge County Sheriff's deputies were patrolling a cemetery in Hustisford Saturday after people took some brass marker flags for veterans' graves.
Sergeant Eric Krueger was investigating the thefts from Hustisford Cemetery.
"Apparently, somebody had stolen some brass marker flags from the American legion, particularly some veterans at the cemetery," he told Newsradio 620 WTMJ's Jay Sorgi.
They were stolen on Thursday.
Krueger said that deputies are increasing their patrols around the cemetery, "at all times of the day, not just the hours of darkness, to try and curb what's going on. We'll probably start trying to do more patrols."
For Krueger, who's served America in the army, it's an additional insult to know flag markers were taken from veterans.
"I myself am a veteran. It's kind of disturbing, makes me want to work harder and try to catch the suspects."
