Milwaukee heat wave ends Saturday
MILWAUKEE - Relief is finally coming to Southeastern Wisconsin after a week-long bout of extreme heat.
Excessive heat warnings for Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Sheboygan and Washington Counties were set to end early Saturday morning.
Warnings for Jefferson and Walworth Counties were set to expire at 7:00 p.m. Saturday.
Warnings for the rest of southeast Wisconsin were cancelled earlier in the day.
Today's TMJ4's Todd Hicks spent some time at Estabrook Park where he found folks enjoying the day.
"It's going to feel a lot nicer," said Storm Team 4Caster Jesse Ritka.
She explains that a cold front is passing through which has finally ended one of the longest stretches of hot weather in the Milwaukee area's history.
"Things will cool down, especially from the north down to the south," said Jesse. "We already have winds from the north-northeast to help us cool down today."
"That could help some of the drought conditions, though not everybody sees rain. These are just isolated chances (of rain) as the cold front comes on through."
All this comes after what Ritka described as a two-week stretch of extreme heat, including a nearly week-long extreme heat warning and heat advisory for our area.
"We had two of the top 10 warmest days, our hottest days, on record in Milwaukee, ever recorded, on July 4th and July 5th."
