Officials: La Crosse woman's death is heat-related
LA CROSSE- The La Crosse County deputy medical examiner says a woman has died from heat-related causes, and a second death is being investigated to see if heat is a factor.
Deputy Medical Examiner Tim Candahl says a 68-year-old La Crosse woman was found dead in her home on Thursday evening, where the heat was 109 degrees.
Candahl tells the La Crosse Tribune that the woman's body temperature was over 100 degrees when she was found.
The city is among many in the area to see record-breaking heat all week.
Health officials urge the public to try to avoid the heat and to check on family members and neighbors without air conditioning.
