Parents keeping kids cool during Independence Day parades

MILWAUKEE- Wednesday is the hottest Independence Day in Milwaukee history, but that didn't stop people from heading outside to party and watch some parades.
At Humboldt Park's parade, parents worked to keep kids cool.
"It's hard on the little ones cause they seem to get real flushed, but that's why we have all the water everywhere," said mom Kristi Mootz.
"We live just on the other side of the park so we're going to head right home," said mom Angie Gendron.
"I think we'll be outside for a little bit and then we'll go in the pool," said mom Christina Crogan.
Near triple digit temperatures meant scorching conditions for parade participants -- with everyone from beauty queens to people in period costumes trying their best to look cool.
Over at the City of Franklin's fourth of July celebration, dignitaries like Paul Ryan braved the warm temperatures and veterans joked about how to handle the heat.
People made the most of a scorcher -- which many say they'll take over the alternative.
