Jefferson County dealership working through Tuesday's extreme heat
JEFFERSON- Jefferson County is under an Excessive Heat Warning and one dealership is doing their best to handle Tuesday's heat.
It's hot just standing outside Havill Chrysler Dodge Jeep and even hotter on the job, reports TODAY'S TMJ4's Tom Murray.
It gets sticky, sweaty and uncomfortable under the hood.
Mechanic Mark Haberkorn had sweat beading on his forehead. "Things get a little harder to do, but we struggle through," said Haberkorn.
Giant barn fans work overtime to keep the air moving. Garage doors were wide open and a cooler full of ice cold lemonade provides much needed refreshment.
Shop manager Jeff Skaife has been at this for more than two decades.
"They're working under the hoods of cars, it's 115, 120 degrees. We need to make sure we keep them hydrated," said Skaife. "This is probably the worst I've seen it in a long time."
It's a tough jobs, but cars need fixing.
A lot of perspiration to get to this week's paycheck. "It's been very warm. You go home drenched, but it's worth it," described Haberkorn.
