Union Grove trustees get iPads with taxpayer money
UNION GROVE, Wis. (AP) - The trustees on a Racine County village board have approved spending $4,000 to buy themselves seven iPads.
The iPads will be owned by the Village of Union Grove.
Trustees will use them to check village email and read village documents.
Trustee Gordon Svendsen says iPad data plans will be discussed next week.
If the board approves those plans, the devices will likely be ordered next month.
Svendsen says the average trustee spends $400 to $500 each year in printing costs.
He says by spending $400 for each iPad, the devices will pay for themselves.
A Journal Times of Racine report (http://bit.ly/LEf782 ) says the iPads were approved in a 5-2 vote this week.
One of the dissenters was Ron Bogard. He says iPads are an unnecessary expense during a sluggish economy.
