Gymnasts excited to compete at Summerfest
MILWAUKEE- Some talented gymnasts are at the Summerfest grounds and they have big dreams for this weekend.
On Friday, the YMCA National Gymnastic Championships kicked off at Summerfest.
"It's absolutely ridiculous were all really pumped and excited to compete and then hang out afterwards and enjoy the music," described gymnast Lauren Fusck.
The Connecticut girl is just one of nearly two thousand gymnasts in Milwaukee for the gymnastics championships.
"We have states coming from the east the Midwest the west, they come from all over," said gymnastics coach Tina Breen.
The competition will continue through Monday at the Frontier Airlines Center. Coach Tina Breen told TODAY'S TMJ4 the weather isn't quite what she's used to back home in California.
"You come here for the ambiance and for the fun and whatever happens with the weather, the big guys in control," said Breen.
Many of these contestants can't believe the meet just happens to fall during the world's largest music festival.
"I did tell (family and friends) that I was going to a Kelly Clarkson concert and they were jealous , really jealous," said Lauren Fusck.
A lot of those gymnasts told TODAY'S TMJ4 they plan on enjoying the night and will hit the gym mats early Saturday morning.
