Governor Walker discusses healthcare ruling

MILWAUKEE- In an exclusive interview with TODAY'S TMJ4's Cody Holyoke, Governor Scott Walker said he will not move forward with plans to create a statewide exchange for residents to buy healthcare.
His opinion is unchanged after the Supreme Court affirmed the law is Constitutional.
"We just firmly believe that we prefer not to have that massive tax imposed at a time where the economy's so tight in this state," Walker said.
States are required to act by January 1, 2013. Walker disagrees with the law and is holding out for Republican victories in the November general elections.
A loss means a new strategy.
"Then and only then will we take the time and the resources to see what will happen after that," the Governor explained.
"From our standpoint, literally all you have to show in January is what you're going to do."
The decision to pause planning doesn't sit well with critics, who point to Walker's post-election promise for bipartisanship.
"Does this holding back also affect the perception that the state needs to come together as you said after your election?" Holyoke asked.
"I think if you look at people's concerns with this, it crosses party's lines. So, this is not a Democrat/Republican issue," Walker maintains.
The governor says small business owners have contacted him, concerned about the prospects of the law.
