Some flocking to Fox Brook Park in Brookfield to cool down
BROOKFIELD- Thursday's heat index reaching near 105 degrees has people flocking to the beach at Fox Brook Park.
But the heat isn't all fun and games for parents, who know how dangerous this kind of weather can be.
Baseball players walking off the field at Brookfield East told TODAY'S TMJ4 they were exhausted.
"It was hot, very hot. I almost felt like i was going to have a heat stroke because it was real humid, it's hard to play in that," said baseball player Evan Mickey.
It was tough weather for spectators too, "So I had my umbrella trying to keep cool and I stood in the shade for a while," said Karen Shaw.
People were taking it easy on Thursday at Fox Brook Lake.
Teveris McMurtry brought his little brother and sister to the beach, and he's making sure they don't get overheated.
"Just keeping them hydrated, enjoying food, going in the water," said McMurtry.
It's a day when parents around the lake, packed everything they needed to take on the weather.
"Sunscreen, we packed freeze pops, water, we packed lunch so they had some food on the lake," said mother Kimberly Potteiger. "Have water, and eating a little bit of something and then getting back in the water and staying cool."
