Summerfest provides ways to beat Thursday's extreme heat
MILWAUKEE - If you thought Wednesday was hot, Thursday will be even hotter on the Summerfest grounds.
Officials are relaxing their carry-in rules to help people remain comfortable during the heat wave.
On Thursday, people are allowed to bring in unopened water bottles, empty, wearable hydration "camel backs" or empty, collapsable water bottles into the grounds.
Vendors will offer lots of cool treats as well.
"Iced coffee, will be selling a lot of cool drinks, slushies, things like that," said one woman who sells food and drink at Summerfest.
"We'll have a misting, cooling station at the north, south and midgate to try to keep patrons cool," explained Summerfest Vice President John Boler.
The always popular splash pad will also be open.
Summerfest will also provide extra staff on site to handle medical emergencies and provide air-conditioned buses at the north, mid and south ends of the grounds.
