Janesville buzzing as Paul Ryan vetted for VP nod
JANESVILLE - Word is out that Janesville Congressman Paul Ryan has submitted paperwork to Mitt Romney's campaign to be considered as a running mate.
People in Janesville are buzzing after hearing hometown boy Paul Ryan could be Romney's VP.
"It's cool!" Janesville resident Jane Harding says. "He had just said he was going to stay in Congress a little bit longer."
Even though the news surprised many in the town of 60,000, some people say Ryan is what Republicans need to win this November.
"I think he would do what he says he's gonna do if he were the running mate," resident Joe Harding says.
Natives on the other side of the aisle are also happy.
"I think it's great," Democrat Kenneth Lauer says.
Many hope the national spotlight stays on Wisconsin and the same town that Ryan calls home.
"Anytime you get that kind of coverage, it's going to be a big deal," Lauer says.
Ryan's office not saying much about the news today, instead referring all comment to the Romney campaign.
