SHOREWOOD-- A man was taken to the hospital after suffering from a  medical condition at the wheel of his white Sedan, witnesses said. The accident occured mid-afternoon, Saturday.

He was traveling East bound on Capitol when he veered off the road and hit a light pole that, in turn, struck a man walking with his wife and grandson. The pedestrian was hit in the leg with the light pole, however, he was not transported to a hospital and was able to walk home.

The accident shut down the right lane of Capitol from the intersection of Wilson and Capitol to the next intersection, causing traffic to back up to at least Holton st.
