Investigation is underway after police shoot elderly man
HURLEY, Wis. - An 85 year old man is dead after a standoff with police in the northern Wisconsin town of Hurley.
Officers were called Friday morning to the apartment complex of a man identified as Leo Driscoll after the apartment manager said Driscoll threatened him with a gun.
Police say Driscoll's girlfriend warned them he had numerous firearms.
Police called in the SWAT team when Driscoll retreated inside.
Eventually, the elderly man was shot by police.
Now, two officers from Hurley and a number of others on the multijurisdictional SWAT team are on administrative leave while the shooting is being investigated by the sheriff's department in nearby Vilas County.
Hurley police chief Dan Erspamer says Driscoll had no record with local police.
