Village of Eagle remembers F2 tornado striking two years ago
EAGLE- Two years ago, people in Eagle in Waukesha County were cleaning up from a tornado. It cut a path four miles wide and destroyed 25 homes.
"It's something you don't forget," said Don Sierpinski. "It was pitch black, but you could see because there was that much lightening. You could see that all the trees were bending over, and it was a tremendous wind. Then I heard what sounded like someone threw a bunch of rocks at the back of the house."
Don Sierpinski considers himself lucky that he survived the tornado, and only had minor damage.
"It's surprising, it's amazing what the wind can do," said Sierpinski.
Trees levels, buildings destroyed, and even the fire chief's home was destroyed.
But the town of Eagle has come a long ways in just two years.
Fire Chief Justin Heim has moved into a new home, and he says most of the town has recovered. "The biggest challenge is just continuing to pick up and move on with life. We don't know when it's going to happen again," said Heim.
