Milwaukee County temporarily closes Coggs building after 5-alarm fire
MILWAUKEE- Wednesday's five-alarm fire on Milwaukee's north side caused officials to temporarily shut down the Martha G. Coggs building.
The building will remain closed until Monday, while crews work to clean up the smoke and soot from the fire that started at a nearby building.
As a result, state officials are recommending people needing health and nutrition benefits to conduct their business online or by calling 1-888-947-6583 while the building on 1220 W. Vliet Street is temporarily closed.
More information about the closure can be found here.
The building has about 200 county employees and 400 state employees providing a wide range of services.
