Air conditioning will be a near-necessity is Southeastern Wisconsin today, along with a tolerance for high, hot winds and possibly an umbrella.
"The heat is on in southeast Wisconsin," said Storm Team 4Caster Jesse Ritka.
"You'll need to find a way to keep cool because temperatures are soaring into the 90s today! A warm front is also bringing in the humidity, so it will feel sticky today as well as hot."
However, heavy wind gusts are expected, which has brought about a wind advisory for all of Southeastern Wisconsin except for Fond du Lac and Sheboygan Counties from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
"The only thing helping keep the heat index down is the winds, they are strong from SSW at 15-30 mph. Some wind gusts could top 40 mph."
During the latter part of that advisory, there's also the chance for heavy thunderstorms to the north.
"After 4pm there is a slight chance for a few showers or thunderstorms to develop mainly in the north. Some of those could be strong to severe but not everyone will see stormy conditions," explained Jesse.
"A few T'storms may stick around tonight but most of us will just be stuck with sticky, warm and breezy conditions with overnight lows in the low 70s."
Though the precipitation and wind of Monday won't necessarily come Tuesday, the heat from today's forecast will repeat itself.
"The heat and humidity stick around for Tuesday with low 90s for highs again," said Jesse.
"The winds won't be quite as strong as Monday, but it will still be breezy. Almost a repeat forecast for Wednesday with hot temps, humid conditions and breezy winds."
Wednesday night will bring relief from heat our area, according to Jesse.
"A cold front finally works its way through on Wednesday evening, bringing the next best chance rain. That front will help drop temperatures and lower the humidity going into Thursday. High 70s are back in the forecast by Friday with another shot of rain and storms by Saturday."
