Basement fire at historic UW-La Crosse building
LA CROSSE - There's been another basement fire at UW-La Crosse.
This one happened at Wittich Hall on Saturday night. School officials say there's smoke damage all throughout the building.
That's the second basement fire at UW-La Crosse in the last six months. There was a basement fire in January at Drake Hall that displaced about 240 students. Contractors just finished restoration work on Drake Hall last week, and the university expects to repen it in the fall.
The cause of last Saturday's fire is still under investigation.
