SHIOCTON, Wis. - In Outagamie County, a ten foot python, who crews believe may have been someone's pet, is on the loose north of Appleton.

Tim Ewing, the director of the Navarino Nature Center in Shiocton says a visitor snapped a photo of the python on Memorial Day weekend at the wildlife center, but the snake has not been seen since.

Ewing says the python is not native to the area, and it was likely abandoned at the nature preserve by someone.

Although it has been nearly three weeks, Ewing is not concerned that the python has seemingly vanished.

Navarino has 15,000 acres and he notes that finding a snake there would be like finding a needle in a haystack.

Ewing also says that the public is not in danger since pythons would be more likely to attack smaller animals such as beavers, otters and ducks than humans.
