Man arrested after stealing truck at Mental Health Complex

MILWAUKEE- A patient at the Behavioral Health Division is under arrest after jumping out of an ambulance at the Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex on Watertown Plank Road, stealing a food service truck, crashing it, jumping over a fence then fled on foot around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The 47-year-old man was supposed to be taken to a hospital by that ambulance, but he escaped then drove off in a truck while the operator was in the back.  The suspect then drove the truck into a chain link fence then jumped over the fence.

A relative saw the suspect and picked him up near N. 107th St. and W. Heather Ave, but then the suspect jumped out of that vehicle.  The relative found a Milwaukee police officer and that officer was able to transport the suspect to a local hospital.

The Milwaukee County sheriff's office then arrested the suspect around 5:45 p.m.

The truck operator complained of minor injuries.

According to the Milwaukee County sheriff's department, the suspect is being charged with Operating Without Owners Consent and Reckless Endangering Safety.
