GREEN BAY- Donald Driver gave Stephen Wagner the surprise of his life Monday.
The 12-year-old from Ripon grabbed a cleat thrown by Driver after a charity baseball game, but a woman snatched it from the boy's hands.
Little did the Ripon boy know, Robyn Ereth also had her eye on #80's cleat. It's a video that fueled a firestorm on the Internet.
"She ripped the cleat out and she pretty much dashed off with it," said Wagner.
The woman and her friends even posed with the shoe and snapped photos. TODAY'S TMJ4 tried to speak to the woman, but she didn't return any calls.
The 12-year-old found out from a tweet that Driver planned to make good on the gift that was snatched after seeing the video for himself.
According to the Journal Sentinel, Driver gave the boy
- A pair of cleats, autographed to Stephen
- A signed baseball bat, signed "To my No. 1 fan and true hero"
- A signed jersey
- Three books Driver wrote
- Autographed Packer cups
Wagner told TODAY'S TMJ4 he has a message for the people who have anything but kind words for the woman. "I don't want people ripping on that lady, cause it was anyone's fight, even though he threw it to me."
