Thousands expected at urban and small farm conference in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- About 3,000 people are expected to attend an international urban and small farm conference held in the Milwaukee area in September.
  
More than 200 food system experts from across the country are expected to attend and share their knowledge during the conference hosted by Growing Power.
  
Growing Power is a nonprofit organization that promotes sustainable farming methods. The founder and chief executive officer is Will Allen, who is also a former professional basketball player.
  
More than a dozen workshops and conferences will also be offered throughout the 2nd National-International Urban & Small Farm Conference.
  
It will be held Sept. 7 through the Sept. 9 at Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis.
  
The first conference hosted by Growing Power was held in September 2010.
