Life in prison, no parole, for man who strangled girlfriend's sons
MADISON (AP) - A Madison man convicted of strangling his girlfriend's two young sons will never be eligible for parole.
Twenty-nine-year-old David Hoem had already been sentenced to two life sentences.
He faced a hearing Friday in which Judge William Hanrahan had the option of setting a date for when Hoem could be eligible for parole.
However, the judge said Hoem was guilty of the "senseless slaughter of innocents."
He noted that Hoem strangled his victims, meaning he felt their beating hearts, saw their eyes and felt their fear.
Hoem went into the hearing without a lawyer. He fired all five of his lawyers before a trial was to have begun.
Hoem was convicted of strangling 3-year-old Kemaury McArthur and 4-year-old Kevin McArthur last year after picking them up from their father's home.
