Deadline for Wis. no call list approaches
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Thursday is the deadline to get phone numbers to Wisconsin's no call list to protect them from receiving unsolicited telemarketing phone calls and text messages.
Numbers added to the list by Thursday are protected from receiving telemarketing calls and texts starting July 1.
The free serviced offered through the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection covers residential land and cellphone lines.
Political calls, calls from nonprofit organizations and calls made in response to written or verbal request or permission are not covered.
The list is updated four times per calendar year. Anyone who doesn't sign up by Thursday wouldn't be added to the list until Oct. 1.
Numbers can be added at nocall.wisconsin.gov or by calling 1-866-966-2255.
