New charges for Wis. man in incriminating video
LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) -- Prosecutors in La Crosse have filed new charges against a man who allegedly stole a camcorder and then filmed himself revealing his name, admitting to the theft and taunting police.
Twenty-year-old Houaka Yang was initially charged with carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of being party to misdemeanor theft. Prosecutors this week added five theft charges and a bail-jumping charge.
Yang and a teenager are accused of breaking into unlocked cars and stealing GPS units, cash and anything else of value. A surveillance video allegedly shows them stealing a camcorder from one car.
Police used the video to arrest them and return the camcorder. The owner says he was stunned when he later found Yang's incriminating video.
A message left with Yang's public defender was not immediately returned.
