Motorcyclist seriously injured after rear-ending car on Highway 45
POLK - A motorcyclist was seriously injured on Highway 45 in the Town of Polk when he rear-ended a car early Sunday morning.
The northbound lanes of Highway 45 were closed for about an hour at about 3:30 Sunday morning while Nathan Roush, 29, was airlifted to Froedert Memorial Hospital.
"Investigation shows both involved motor vehicles were traveling northbound..in the left lane (fast lane) approaching Western Ave.," Washington County Sgt. Ryan Herman said in a news release. "For an unknown reason, the operator of the motorcycle rear ended the passenger car traveling at normal highway speeds."
"The motorcycle slid to a stop, ejecting the operator into the median of the highway. The passenger car operator slowed to a stop north of where the motorcycle came to rest in the left lane of traffic. The motorcycle operator was not wearing a helmet and sustained serious injury."
"The operator and passenger of the car were both wearing seatbelts and were not injured. Alcohol and speed are contributing factors with the motorcycle operation only."
No criminal charges or traffic citations have yet been issued. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
