Brewers manager calls this a quiet team
MILWAUKEE (AP) - Brewers manager Ron Roenicke says this year's Milwaukee team might be too quiet.
The Brewers were a boisterous bunch last year on their way to winning the NL Central. But Milwaukee began Saturday a season-worst seven games below .500.
Roenicke says the team is playing hard, but that something is missing from a group that lost Prince Fielder and other clubhouse personalities since the playoffs.
Roenicke calls the Brewers a "quiet group." He says that once in a while when things aren't going well, a team needs "somebody to loosen it up a little bit."
Roenicke is regarded as one of the more reserved managers in the majors.
He'd also like to see outfielder Nyjer Morgan be more vocal.
Last year, Roenicke sometimes had to reign in the excitable Morgan.
