Deliberations set for Monday in fraud trial against diocese
APPLETON, Wis. - Deliberations are expected to begin Monday in the fraud trial against the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay.
Todd and Troy Merryfield were just 12 and 14 years old when they were molested by priest John Feeney back in the 1970s.
For that, Feeney was convicted and sentenced to prison back in 2004, and has since been released.
The civil lawsuit at hand, in Outagamie County, accuses the Catholic diocese of knowing Feeney had a history of abuse when it assigned him to Freedom's St. Nicholas Church.
The brothers are asking for unspecified compensation from the diocese.
